The commercial print firm decided to opt for InkOptimizer during Drupa.

Girish Rao, managing director at Akruti, said, “The thing that convinced us about the GMG solution was the excellent quality. For us, anything else was out of the question. An ink-saving potential of between 10% and 15% became apparent after just a short time. As a result, the investment has already paid for itself. In addition, the image definition in the shadows is preserved far better and we can start varnishing certain print jobs sooner because the solvents evaporate faster. The lower level of ink application also results in reduced energy requirements for IR and UV drying, as well as improved through-drying.”

Akruti uses wide variety of substrate for printing. According to Rao, the InkOptimizer has its own benefits.

Rao said, “We quickly began to reap the benefits and I can honestly say it has a big impact on our business. Before we heard about InkOptimizer, we didn’t think it was an issue, but inks are expensive and savings are worth attempting. The result have been amazing.”

Akruti, which consumes more than 1,200 plates, 400 kg of ink and 40 tons of paper per month prints magazines like Heritage India, Viva Goa and Moda, a fashion magazine.

For its printing division, Akruti has a Heidelberg MOV four-colour and MOV single-colour, KBA Rapida 74 four-colour press with Polar cutting machine, one Morgana Digi Pro crease and fold, punching machine, Stahl folder, Sheridan four-station collating-stitching and three-knife trimming and one thermal laminating machine. It has staff strength of 36.
