"This technique called the Caza Superimposition and developed by screen printing guru Michel Caza will be a first of its kind," said Bhargav Mistry, who will be teaching this technique at the workshop. "I remember he used to achieve 64 spot colours with only six impressions. Later, with research on this technique at DMI, I went a step ahead and developed how to achieve 511 spot colour by just adding three more impressions."

Caza Superimposition has a huge variety of applications, few of which include print collaterals like calendars, wedding cards, dairies, books, notebooks and stationery, school bags, toys and games, fancy stickers and labels, CD/DVD covers, gifts and novelties, art and serigraphy, packaging, packaging on transparent plastic, and "one can also compliment this idea on offset or digital prints," added Mistry.

Speaking about the objective to educate screen printers with this technique, Mistry stated that: "to print more than a 100 special spot (solid Pantone) colours and making 100 screens of each colour would be a nightmare for a screen printer since it is difficult to stock and manage so many special colours."

Hence, at the upcoming workshop from 1 to 3 December 2011, Mistry will do a screen printing of around 100 different spot (Pantone colours) and also a few metallic spot colours on a calendar with just nine impressions.

Later, he will also add around 12 new UV special effects on the same calendar. "One of the special effects will be of UV mirror inks," said an highly elated Mistry. "More over we will be also printing this calendar on a transparent plastic, metallic foil and a rigid white sun-board."
