Haymarket Media managing director, Jeremy Vaughan, said, "We’d been considering our options in Australia so when Nextmedia approached us we felt it was the right opportunity to divest.
“With the Haymarket Media Group internationally focusing on its chosen sectors, and the recent expansion in Singapore, we saw this as an ideal time for our Australian brands to go to local publishers that will invest to ensure their long term future."
Nextmedia is acquiring iTnews,PC & Tech Authority andBIT, and licensing Secure Computing, FourFourTwo and F1 Racing. It will also take over the custom projects and the license for CRN from The Channel Company. Haymarket is at the closing stages of agreeing the sale of ProPrint and is seeking interests from publishers on Limelight magazine.
Vaughan added, “Over the next few weeks we will be focused on a smooth transition of staff and brands to the new publishers. For the past 10 years our talented staff members have done a wonderful job of producing outstanding and award-winning magazines and websites of which we are extremely proud. Although Haymarket will no longer publish from within Australia, we will continue to have strong connections with Australia through our portfolio of imported magazines, subscriptions, syndication feeds and the licensing of FourFourTwo and F1 Racingto Nextmedia.”
“Speaking for myself and for the Haymarket Group, I'd like to thank all our loyal staff, suppliers, contributors and freelancers and wish the publishers who are taking over our brands all the very best for the future,” concluded Vaughan.
Earlier this year in April, PrintWeek, the UK's leading title for the printing industry, was acquired by Mark Allen Group.
PrintWeek India remains a Haymarket’s print portfolio along with pressXchange.com, PrintWeek MEA, and Druck & Medien.
