“If we look at new machines which have touched the Indian port from 1 January to 31 December 2015, we have 19 machines installed in India,” Peter Rego of Heidelberg told
PrintWeek India. Of these, eight are six-colour or more with online coater, and are equipped with more enhanced features. “If you calculate it by the financial year April 2015 to March 2016, we estimate 21 sheetfed offset printing presses in India, out of which 14 have already been shipped,” he added.
If we count the printing units, the Heidelberg figures show 24 printing units from January to March 2015 and 77 from April to December 2015.
The company confirmed that another 28 printing units orders will be shipped between 16 January and 31 March, 2016. The number may increase as the manufacturer also has a few “soft orders” in its kitty.
“Heidelberg has a total of 101 printing units from January to December 2015,” Rego said.
Heidelberg has a major interest in the Indian and Asian market. Recently, the company established its third Print Media Center in Quinpu, Shanghai, after Germany and the USA. With Drupa round the corner, Rego is very excited as this could be a turning point for Heidelberg with its new offerings. Heidelberg will look to further consolidate its position in the industry.
