Heidelberg's seminar for printing fraternity in Kochi focusses on maintenance and efficiency

Heidelberg India conducted a workshop on press maintenance and productivity enhancement on 11 March, 2011 in Kochi.

Guenther Keppler, general manager for business development at Heidelberg India speaking on the occasion emphasised on the needs of a well-defined processes for press maintenance.

Keppler said: "In today’s competitive world, where profit margins are wafer thin and production costs sky-rocketing, Heidelberg believes sustained maintenance of machines to perform at their optimum capacity with minimum down times is imperative."

In a separate session on post-press, Dieter Veigel a specialist on the subject from Heidelberg took the printers through insights that reinforced the importance of optimum post-press for higher productivity and initiated the audience into simple folding applications.

Highlighting the benefits of the initiative, G Venkataraman, who handles the Kochi market for Heidelberg India, said "Kochi has been a very important and strategic market for us. The market has grown in the past few years at a fast pace especially with emerging industries like telecom setting in. Packaging has also begun to provide a boost to print.

Today, print firms in Kochi are getting more and more conscious about quality printing and there are many companies like Anaswara Offset, Varna Printers, Maya Printers, Five-Star Offset, Sujilee Printers and Koppara Enterprises who are pioneering the adoption of new state-of-the-art equipment.

With this workshop, Heidelberg is aiming to update and educate the printers besides ensuring higher productivity and minimal wastage.
