With HP being the largest single exhibitor at Drupa 2016, the Israel-based digital print giant is expected to do a total revamp with all the print power at its disposal. HP's Indigo man, A Appadurai met up with the PrintWeek India team during the super busy CEIF show in Mumbai, where the HP stall (with the PageWide, three Indigos (10000, 7600, 5600), and all types of Latex printers) was an indicator that Drupa will not be about "Druck and Papier" anymore.
Appadurai said, “We will have a very serious offering around packaging and in this regard we have a fantastic Indian case study with a top brand. This is very much aligned with HP India's ambitions about a genuine innovation and a genuine Indian case-study.”
Appadurai said it was too early to share the specifics about what HP planned to exhibit at Drupa or announce the Indian case study, but he added, it involved “a lot of innovation not seen before in India”.
“Our pre-Drupa event will be in Israel in April, where we will keep the momentum of DScoop going by holding Dscoop5 and sharing with our customers what we are doing at Drupa,” he explained.
Appadurai said, "Making a big impact statement in Germany with its offset legacy is the biggest thing. This Drupa, in my mind, is going to be a very important milestone for digital print. After May 2016, digital print is going to be considered as a mainstream business."
Meanwhile, HP unveiled its portfolio of HP PageWide XL Printers at the CEIF show, which is capable of offering large-format production printing in colour and black-and-white.
"Our large-format printing customers are continually exploring ways to improve productivity, streamline workflow and reduce costs," said, Devang Karia of HP India while talking to PrintWeek India. He added, "The HP PageWide XL Printers announced to deliver what our customers have been seeking for years and will revolutionise the production printing market, offering affordable, high-quality black-and-white and colour output in a single device at the fastest speeds available."
The technology is based on proven HP PageWide Technology, which powers the HP inkjet web presses, HP business printers, and will be scaled for upcoming HP 3D Multi Jet FusionTM printers. The new portfolio delivers on the announcement made last year, providing low operation costs driven by life-long printheads, high ink efficiency and cloud-based support.
