The newly launched printing press is pitched with a "one-shot ink" solution that would extend the Indigo market to plastic cards, graphic overlays and high-quality imaging on synthetic substrates’ market.
During the launch-event held in New Delhi, HP also announced Redington, a Rs 17,47-crore company, as the official distributor of this product. Redington provides end-to-end supply chain solutions for global brands in more than 22 countries through more than 32,000 channel partners.
The HP Indigo 5600 model is claimed to deliver 68 ppm in standard colour mode, 136 ppm for two-colour jobs and 272 ppm for mono jobs. HP also hinted that the product is aimed at the security printing industry. A new red-fluorescing invisible ink of the HP Indigo 5600 model can be used to pursue new security-printing applications, such as ID cards, tickets and high-value coupons. A white ink option has been included for markets such as greeting card and static-cling window signage production.
Launching the product, Puneet Chadha of HP India, said: “We are very bullish about the Indigo 5600 as it will open gateways for new business opportunities for our Indian print partners and the existing Indigo users.”
“Most of the features launched in 5600 is backward compatible on the 5500 press as an upgrade, this would enable over 50 Indigo 5500 users to get into newer markets. Our existing customers of 5500 presses can upgrade their presses by spending 10% of the total cost of a brand new machine,” concluded Appadurai, country manager – Indigo and inkjet solutions.
On the association with Redington, Chadha said, “Our association with Redington goes long back and we share the pride of our association. We are also looking forward to a great deal of partnership with Redington.”
