In October 2012, Javier Larraz, director and general manager, HP Asia Pacific and Japan had told PrintWeek that HP is looking to spearhead the growth of printing solutions for architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) students and professionals, by making in-house, large-format printing more accessible. He had also shared that the product development strategy of the company will focus on innovations that effectively address the challenges faced by the AEC industry.
The two new products launched are in accordance with HP’s current strategy for the AEC segment which hinges on three key pillars: adding value to printed page, ensuring profitable printing for print service providers (PSPs) and graphic arts businesses; and enabling environment-friendly and sustainable printing.
The 36-inch devices are equipped with an integrated output stacking tray on top of the device to delivers flat and collated prints. The integrated stacking tray collates up to 50 sheets of A4 to A0 size media.
The machine operates at speeds up to 21seconds per A1/D print and is equipped with 32GB of virtual memory in order to process complex files and deliver faster prints. The machine can handle two paper rolls and features automatic alignment and switching capabilities to handle multiple jobs on different media types and sizes. Doubling the processing power over its predecessor, the Designjet T1500 ePrinter comes with a 320GB hard drive and uses a parallel processor that allows the printer to handle multiple files simultaneously.
During the launch, Mahesh Soni, country manager, Designjet, HP GSB India, said, “More than two decades after the launch of the first Designjet printer, HP continues to bring design, architecture, engineering and construction professionals, large-format printing solutions with innovative features, such as the integrated stacking tray and true front-roll loading, that transform the in-house printing process as well as allow users more time for creativity.”
The HP Designjet T920 and T1500 ePrinter series has 4 models which are expected to be available in India beginning on August 2013. The price range for these four models is between 2,90,000 INR to 4,600,000 INR.
