Act Now, Plan Now is a series of sessions powered by HP Indigo in collaboration with PrintWeek. As per the HP team, the online webinar has been designed for commercial printers, "keeping in view the slow change in the commercial printing industry since the last 8-9 years. But now from the last two years, this segment in our industry is also going through lots of uncertainties."
The main aim is to seek "new growth applications with profitable revenue additions to their business."
As Rahul Kumar, associate editor of PrintWeek said, "The size of the litho printing in India in A4 size is estimated to be around 7-trillion in 2021. But a transformation is happening: print jobs are moving from litho to digital. There’s a 21.6% transformation of value that is expected to go from offset to digital, and that’s Rs 9,000-crore in revenue opportunity."
Kumar felt the webinar on 19 January will be useful for digital print firms across India. He said, "Print by its nature is very tactile, so it can only truly be appreciated in person. But in-person events are not possible. Therefore it has become difficult for industry professionals to discover the latest developments in premium print because of the pandemic protocol." Kumar felt what the HP team manages to do is, add value by showcasing how print jobs are created. "It’s fantastic to see so many innovations.”
In the previous PrintWeek-HP session, the webinar had a presentation from Smithers-Pira which talked about the trends and insights into the Indian commercial print segment. This was for "the first time in India". Based on the inputs about new trends and trajectories, the HP tech-team found that digital technology is "the need of the hour to meet the changing needs of customers. Therefore, print innovation is required to adapt and transform the business."
An HP spokesman said, on 19 January - for more than 60 minutes - will be all about exploring and witnessing "the real possibilities in commercial print applications". Other than tips and tools for printers to adapt in their print production ecosystem, the webinar will broadcast "live" from HP's Centre of Excellence in Singapore.
Rahul Kumar said, "A team of experts will showcase the live demonstration on HP Indigo digital presses and share the insights to revamp the strategies to tap the growing demand of print applications in the commercial printing segment."
