HPPL’s Suresh Gupta retires; Murali Sivaraman takes over as new independent chairman

As Suresh Gupta, executive chairman, Huhtamaki PPL retired on 31 December 2018 after serving the company for more than three decades, the packaging major has announced the appointment of Murali Sivaraman as non-executive independent chairman effective 1 January 2019.

Sivaraman is an accomplished business leader who has worked for most of his career with global multinational companies including Philips and Akzo Nobel in India, Singapore, China, Canada and the UK. In his last assignment, he served at Philips Lighting as president for growth markets based out of Singapore. 

According to HPPL, Sivaraman has relocated to Mumbai and is presently the non-executive chairman of Philips Lighting India.

Sivaraman is a chartered accountant, MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and has also completed an Advanced Management Program from Harvard.
