HTW celebrates export of one billion can ends

India’s metal can specialist, Hindustan Tin Works, has exported more than one billion can ends in last five years. It celebrated this landmark achievement at Interpack.

During the event at its booth in Metal Packaging Plaza, the chief guest, Amanda Mattsson, global category leader - metal packaging, global procurement, Nestle, congratulated the entire HTW team and handed over a trophy.

Mattson said, “Nestlé and HTW have a long standing relationship which goes back more than thirty years. HTW currently supplies Nestle in about 10 countries around the world. I would like to congratulate the team at HTW for achieving this milestone and look forward for growing our strategic global relationship in the years to come.”

Speaking to PrintWeek India, Atit Bhatia, senior vice president, HTW, said, “We started exports in 1988 to UAE, however; exports was a small business for us until five years ago. In last five years we have pushed exports aggressively. We are foreseeing growth in export market. Currently we export 33% of our production and going ahead, we have plans to focus on exports and make its contribution on par with the domestic supply in next three years.”

With this achievement, HTW is now positioning itself as a leading global end manufacturer for the world. Bhatia said, “Our can-ends are being exported to countries like USA, Australia, France, Italy, Netherlands, Malaysia, China, Africa, UAE, South America etc. We have ambitious plans to grow our end manufacturing division in the years to come.”

The company has been accredited as a Star Exporter by Government of India for exporting one billion ends of the total tally of four billion that is manufactured in India.
