According to Chenga Reddy Modem, CEO, Citrus Packaging Solutions, the company went for the Lombardi because it’s a versatile machine capable of doing value-added products with accurate registration. “Even makeready in the machine is quite easy compared to other machines. However, the most important reason for us was Vinsak’s relation with us and its excellent service support. We have more than two decades of relationship with Vinsak,” he added.

The Synchroline 330, an eight-color UV press with the chill drum, rotary die-cutting, and inline sheeting can print on substrate thickness ranging from 12 to 500 micron. Other attachments include movable cold foil, slitter, turn bar, relam, delam, conveyor, and lamination.

Modem, who started the label printing venture in 2017, comes with more than 30 years of experience in the printing industry, including 16 years at Pragati Pack, specialising in label printing.

Modem said he has hands-on experience of working on multiple narrow web flexo printing presses during his stint at Pragati Pack, especially machines MPS and Omet, and he is looking forward to work on the Lombardi. “We will be producing hanger labels, peel and reveal labels, up to three layer labels, shrink sleeves with foiling of small volume, variable data printed labels, track and trace labels, tamper evident labels, among other,” he said.

On the finishing side, the company has invested in bi-directional slitter rewinder with an AVT inspection system, variable data printer from Vinsak, plate mounter, anilox cleaning system, plate cleaner and offline die cutting and foiling machine.

With the new installation, Citrus is looking to establish itself as a specialty label printing firm. “Beside the machinery, we have a workforce with experience ranging from five to 32 years. Now, we are working on strategic tie-ups for technology and marketing,” he said.

The company has also applied for an ISO certification and expecting to get it by August 2018. Twenty people work in Citrus’s 9,500 sq/ft facility.
