This is the third Ricoh 907 that the company has bought in the span of two years.Devesh Bhardwaj, director, IGD Services said, “We have had good experience with Ricoh's service back-up and we didn't want to experiment with new manufacturers. Being in the service industry, it is imperative for us to be swift in actions as the digital market is very dynamic.”
Malviya Nagar-based IGD Services, has units in Jaipur, Bhopal, Chandigarh and Lucknow and has been in the business of mailing since more than a decade.
Started as a company that took up contract works in 1994, it has graduated from handling public issue mailing to VDP, and is also planning to step into envelop making and offset printing in the next few months as a backward integration of the process.
“We have a growing network of clientele whom we offer different mailing and VDP (variable data printing) services. The flow of work depends on the customer demands. In brevity, volumes for us are definitely increasing,” Bhardwaj added.
When PrinWeek India asked Bhardwaj on his views on the shift to e-bills and the drive by the large brands in favour of digitisation has affected the market, he said, “Although people claim that the digitisation has affected the market, we still feel that it hasn’t been able to create a big dent as we still see the paper volumes is growing year by year.
Proportionate decrease in the volumes due to digitization compares to proportionate increase in the market is still very low. Direct mailing is still considered to be more effective when compared to EDM. A large number of telecom bills, bank statements, insurance notices, contract notes, marketing mailers etc are still being delivered in print.”
IGD is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company and has an agency tie-up with Indian Post Services. The company plans to expand its printing units to 20,000 sq/ft area within next two years from the existing 8,000 sq/ft. “Our prime focus is to expand the existing area first and then try to acquire a new unit,” explained Bhardwaj.
IGD’s infrastructure includes three Ricoh 907 digital printers, three franking machines, three address writers and two Inland making machines. The company utilises the machines to execute volumes of approx 30 lakh A4 impressions in a month of its VDP business alone.
