IIP’s national conference to scrutinise consumer packaging

Indian Institute of Packaging will focus on the challenges and opportunities in consumer packaging when it holds its national conference on 17 and 18 January 2014 at Hotel Shangri-La’s Eros, New Delhi alongside its flagship packaging exhibition Indpack 2014.

Speaking to PrintWeek India, Dr Sanjay Chattopadhyay, professor, additional director and head laboratories division at IIP, “The goal of ‘National Conference on Consumer Packaging: Challenges and Opportunities’  is to discuss emerging trends and innovations in consumer packaging at global level and learn the best practices for successful package development.” 

The chief guest of the conference will be Siraj Hussain, IAS, secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India and Chittaranjan Dar, chief executive officer, ITC Agro will deliver the keynote address.

A raft of speakers has already been confirmed to address delegates, including chief executive, packaging and printing, ITC, R Senguttuvan and key figures from companies such as Coca Cola, Uflex, Signode India, DIC, Hindustan Tin Works etc.

The two-day conference will feature key insight and applications from industry experts.

The day one of the packaging conference will cover flexible and rigid packaging media, while day two will focus on consumer packaging for meat products, new generation packaging machinery and the challenges in packaging optimisation. 

According to Chattopadhyay, the conference is expected to be attended by more than 400 delegates comprising of raw material manufacturers, converters, end-users and packaging machinery manufacturers.
