IIP hosts international summit on packaging
The fifth International Summit for the Packaging Industry was held at Eros Hotel in New Delhi on 6-8 March.

The summit was organised by the Indian Institute of Packaging with the emphasis on five Ss – safe, secure, standardised, smart and sustainable packaging.
The welcome address was delivered by RK Mishra, director, IIP. “I am ecstatic to kick off this conclave and hold vital discussions on moving forward in the packaging industry.”
Sunil Jain, chairman, IIP, emphasised the need to make major changes to allow packaging to change truly. “We need to move on from the conversation where we speak about R&D efforts to create shelf life and technology. Instead, we need to be speaking about functionality, smart packaging, sustainability and artificial intelligence.”
Abhishek Dev, chairman, APEDA and SK Sarangi spoke about the need to hold conferences which stimulate necessary dialogue to expedite the growth of the packaging industry and enable India to have a global and competitive reach.
The chief guest, Harsh Malhotra, minister of state, ministry of corporate affairs, said that the Modi government would continually do its best to ensure that changes are made in the MSME field. “Packaging is everywhere. Barely a day ever passes without an individual consuming a packaged good, and therefore we must ensure that India’s packaging standards are world-class.”
IIP also launched APEDA sponsored export packaging.
The event also consisted of stalls by companies such as Kurz, Flow, Matrix, DCGPAC, Kuraray and Pronk Multiservice among others, where they displayed their products and their company’s mantra to students.
Shrikanth Keny, national sales manager, Kurz, said. “We are here to represent different foil applications. We are also presenting brand protection solutions. We want to explain the sorts of foil applications we have to our visitors.” Kurz’s range of products includes foil applications for the graphic, plastic, cosmetic, automotive, textile and card applications industries.
Sumit Thakur, sales and marketing, Jupiter Laminators, said, “We deal with companies like Haldirams and Nestle. We laminate as per our customers’ desires, and that is what we want to showcase here today.”
