This year marks the Golden Jubilee of the institute. Dr NC Saha, director, IIP, initiated a yearlong celebration to mark the event, with conferences, educational seminars and alumniorganised meetings, each month across its centres in Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
On the occasion, the institute adopted a new identity with a change in the logo. The new logo was launched by Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao on 14 May 2015. Saha said, “The logo captures the institute’s future prerogatives in three important areas - export promotion through the formulation of packaging standards for exportable commodities, upgradation of packaging education through the introduction of BTech and MTech courses in packaging technology and management, and also packaging research for shelf-life studies for fresh and processed food products, and to develop alternative packaging materials in compliance to environmental regulations.”
The logo was designed by NID’s associate senior faculty, Dr Tridha Gajjar, who was on eof the speakers at the World Packaging Congress.
