Image Gravures invests in direct laser engraver

Ahmedabad-based cylinder makers, Image Gravures, has invested in a direct laser electronic cylinder engraving machine in September 2016. The machine will sit beside a similar engraver which was commissioned a year prior.

Sapan Munshi, marketing manager, Image Gravures, said, “We observed that there was a lacuna in the special application industries that we intend to cater to in India. A lot of applications require cylinders to be imported from China or Europe. With this machine, we are now capable of catering to those industries from India plus export demands without compromising on the quality.”

The direct laser machine can engrave on any metal or rubber and manufacture both ceramic anilox cylinders for flexo and gravure applications. These rollers can be used for embossing on glass, paper, tobacco, foils, film, rubber, coating applications, security printing, among others.

“Our core competencies lie in engraving for the flexible packaging industry. With this machine we can now cater to a wide range of special applications, which was earlier restricted to packaging only,” said Munshi.

“The next plan is to achieve an ISO certification by March 2017, which will help us strengthen the existing operations over a period of time,” informed Munshi.
