Impel Services, the company behind Bindwel bookbinding machines and Stelda-Wimco packaging machines, has been nominated for the Economic Times (ET) Indian MSME of the Year (Manufacturing) Award. This nomination marks the first time an Indian print and packaging company has been recognised at the ceremony.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at ITC Maurya, New Delhi, on 20 March 2025. This event will bring together the top performers in the MSME sector, recognising their significant contributions to India's economic landscape.
The fifth edition of the ET MSME Awards celebrates the achievements of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across India. These awards honour businesses that have demonstrated excellence in innovation, growth, and contributions to the Indian economy. The selection process for the 2024 awards commenced in November 2024, with entries evaluated across various categories, including manufacturing, services, and trade.
Speaking to PrintWeek, Pallippuram Sajith, managing director of Impel Services said, "The nomination of Impel Services for the ET MSME Award is a testament to its commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability in the print and packaging sectors." He added, "Being the first Indian company from the print industry to receive this recognition sets a new benchmark for businesses in this space."
Readers of PrintWeek are aware that Bindwel is a leading manufacturer of bookbinding machines in South Asia, with a market presence in the Middle East, Asia, and many African countries. Recently, the company has expanded into the Southeast Asian market, further strengthening its global footprint. Bindwel has also made breakthroughs in the books-on-demand (BOD) market, developing Insta, a BOD-perfect binder. This innovation has catapulted India into the select league of nations, including Japan, Germany, and Switzerland. Insta enables publishers and printers to produce single copies of books cost-effectively, revolutionizing the self-publishing and print-on-demand segments in India and beyond.
Meanwhile, Stelda specialises in sustainable case packaging solutions that help brands reduce pilferage and minimise transit damage. Stelda’s packaging technologies have gained popularity among businesses seeking cost-effective, secure, and environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
In addition, there is Wimco which is one of India’s leading suppliers of tube-filling machines. This business was acquired by Impel Services in 2024, marking Impel’s entry into the primary packaging sector. Wimco continues to be a key player in tube-filling technologies for various industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and FMCG.
The ET MSME Awards aim to foster a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem by recognising resilience, innovation, and outstanding business performance among MSMEs. By honouring companies like Impel Services, the awards encourage other firms and factories to strive for excellence and contribute to India's socio-economic growth.
