Impressions 2014: SIES GST's tribute to the father of printing
The Navi Mumbai-based SIES Graduate School of Technology organised 'Impressions 2014', its annual function to celebrate World Printers’ Day today, 24 February 2014. The theme for the celebration was print odyssey.

The guest of honour for the event, Vivek Kapoor, president, LMAI, unveiled the mascot of the event, a rail engine representing the journey of printing technology. The mascot stands for the countless number of jobs that a printing machine produces.
Besides Kapoor, R L Deshpande, secretary, LMAI; Sandeep Zaveri, director, Total Print Solutions; and Ajay Mehta, director, SMI Coated Products, were the guests of honour for Impressions 2014.
The event also saw unveiling of Adviteeya, an annual magazine of the printing and packaging technology department.
Deshpande enthused a spirit of entrepreneurship among the students. He revealed the success story of his company, Renu Prints, which was started with a capital of Rs 5000 and has progressed over years to reach a turnover of Rs nine-crore.
Mehta emphasised on the growth of the label industry. “Looking at the current growth of the industry, there is a shortage of skilled manpower. Hence the institute must increase the intake of students so as to cope up with the growing demand of professionals.”
During the event, the department felicitated alumni, Shrikant Shelar, senior executive – sales and technical support, Daetwyler Swisstec and Rushikesh Aravkar, senior correspondent, PrintWeek India, for their contribution to the industry and to the department.
The day-long event featured various print-related competitions and fun events for students including technical paper presentations, debates, technical and management quiz, and brand quest among others.
