A unit of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India, wholly owned by the Government of India, the India Security Press requires 15 metric tonnes of non-tearable paper in reel form and five metric tonnes in sheet form. The last date of submitting tender is 26 Spetember 2014.
The firm has also floated a global pre-qualification bid notice for procuring 900 metric tonnes of specially sized passport paper with high rag content and cylinder mould multi-tonal watermark of Ashoka pillar. The paper has to be supplied in reel form.
The cylinder mould process of creating watermarks involves areas of relief on the roll's surface, instead of using a wire covering for the dandy roll. This type of watermark is more detailed than those created using Dandy Roll process. The cylinder mould watermark paper is an anti-counterfeiting measure used in bank notes, passports and other documents.
The security press has instructed the applicants: “The mould cover with watermarks used for manufacture of our paper shall be kept securely under lock and key and offered for inspection by our representatives till it is destroyed in the presence of our representatives. On the entire length of the mould cover our water marks only will be used. Mix-up of multiple water marks of different types for any reasons are strictly prohibited. It means the entire deckle shall have our watermark only.”
The last date for submitting applications for passport paper tender is 28 October 2014.
