India’s performance at Finat is an accolade to the 15% growth in the label segment. Analogous to last year, Pragati Pack has remained an outstanding performer among Indian companies participating in the competition with two category awards and four Highly Commended certificates.
Pragati's Boston Tea Label
Among the six entries submitted by Pragati, it received two awards for The Boston Tea Company label in non-alcoholic drinks category and Fiama Di Wills carton in non adhesive applications group.
Delighted winner and Pragati’s director, Hemanth Paruchuri, said that this is the second year that Pragati has been recognised with the Finat award. “It feels good to be recognised at the international level. Participating in such competitions gives us a perspective on
where we stand internationally,” said Paruchuri.
Speaking to PrintWeek India about the award winning Boston Tea Company label from Pragati, Tony White, chairman of judging panel, said, “At first glance it appears a fairly straightforward label; however on closer scrutiny there is a lot to commend it as a category winner. The illustrations depict the olden days of tea trading when tea was only for the rich.”
He further said, “The red lettering gives a subtle colour balance to the label. The Boston Tea company logo is prominent and gives authority to the label. The flexo process has been used to produce an extremely good result. The addition of a gloss varnish gives the label an extra ‘lift’.”
The Fiama Di Wills carton is an interesting combination of gravure and flexo used to produce a carton. White said, “The gravure was used to print the blue background as it gives better colour consistency compared to offset. The saturated green, blue and orange solid colours give the job an identity and the metallic gravure ink adds class to the carton. The reversed out type is very clear and legible and the product brand is easily identifiable.
When asked about the efforts that go in producing award winning jobs, Paruchuri said, “We produce each and every job to the best of our ability and when jobs with additional embellishments come along we take special care to ensure that the quality is top notch.”
Another Indian firm, the Ahmedabad-based Letra Graphix, was also recognised with two Highly Commended certificates.
Most of the winners from this competition will be entered in the World label Awards competition, which will be judged just before Labelexpo in Brussels in September.
