Classic Stripes (10 awards), Keetronics India (three awards), PRS Permacel (four awards), Spectrum Scan (six awards), Tarun Print Tech (16 awards) and Varsha Transprint (16 awards) were recognised for their industry-leading excellence in print created by specialty imaging.

Mumbai-based Tarun Print Tech was also awarded the ASPT Best of Show Garments for its view change 4 sides work. “We have set benchmarks of quality and creativity. This award is an appreciation of our creativity and the technological advancements we have made,” said Vishal Amte of Tarun Prints. “For the Tarun Prints team, these awards are encouragement to excel in every creation where everymove, every design and every print should be more than perfect.”

Michel Caza, past president of Fespa is amazed, surprised, astonished and astounded with achievements of the Indian screen printing industry. “I remember very well the first ASGA Award competition… 1992 in Singapore where I was the president of an international jury. There were already some good works from Asia, China, Japan, Thailand… But a very few of relatively poor Indian works, mostly in artistic screen printing, some reproductions of old Moghul style and Gods,” he said.

According to Caza, the progress of Indian graphic and textile screen printing is purely based on quality. “That’s the key word. Quality can improve finesse, bring in subtlety, the ability to print 150 lines in halftone instead of 65, and use UV technology rather than the old, poor, for not to say dangerous and difficult to use when the temperature is too high, solvent systems.”

Bhargav Mistry, managing director of Grafica Flextronica, who was a jury that scrutinised one of the Best of Show awards category, said, he would have liked to see more Indian companies than a solitary entry from Tarun Printech. “It was certainly a proud moment, but knowing the Indian screen print industry and the quality of work they are doing in different verticals of screen print, I wish there were more entries in the Best of the Show competition,” he said. Tarun Printech specialises in high density printing on textile.
