Dupont’s Tyvek grade and usage on the climb
The trend is moving towards quality and “packaging first”, said Mohnish Grewal, sales manager for Tyvek and Sontara at Dupont India, who was present at the Dupont stand at India Pack 2012. “Customers are looking at how packaging can add value to the products,” he says.
At the show, Dupont is showcasing Tyvek and its applications – usage in industries such as pharma, automobile, agriculture and medical and commercial and wide-format applications.
Though Dupont made its direct entry into the Indian market eleven years ago, Tyvek was used by Indian converters some 22 years ago. “Converters then imported 50,000-60,000 sqm of Tyvek stock. Today it has touched 50-lakh sqm,” said Grewal.
Further Dupont has over the years upgraded the Tyvek technology, making it liquid resistant and breathable. “Tyvek’s strength is controlled now and is available in 20 different grades for different applications, including food grade,” said Grewal.
