With the new installation, Indigo plans to venture into packaging segment. Speaking to PrintWeek India, Deepak Wadekar, managing director, Indigo Press, said, “The reason that we opted for KBA is that it is also suitable for packaging and can handle substrate in the range of 40-600gsm. It will support our existing”
Indigo has invested in a new 18,000 sq/ft plant at Ambernath in the outskirts of Mumbai, where it plans to shift its operations in the near future.
“In these tough times, if one wants to survive, one needs to upgrade and get better than the competition,” added Wadekar.
Established in 1997 with a four-colour Dominant press, Indigo prints more than 20 magazines includes Autocar Professional, Construction World, Textile Excellence etc.
Recently Indigo has also installed a brand new Cron UV CTP platesetter thereby bringing the platemaking process in-house. “We require more than 2,500 plates per month. Having in-house platemaking, will help us save time when it comes to urgent jobs. Also, in this hyper-competitive market it is better to be in control of all costs,” says Wadekar.
Indigo’s Mumbai plant covers 10,000 sq/ft area and employs 75 people.
