IPAMA eyes cluster in Haryana for print

The agenda: to establish a print cluster in partnership with industry and financial support from the Government of India. The step is taken so as to provide institutional support for print manufacturing the MSME sector.

 

Salil Narang of HSIIDC (Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation), in an interview with PrintWeek India said, ''We have identified 31 clusters across various sectors, like textiles, stainless steel, footwear, print and packaging, pharma, agricultural implements, leather, engineering, scientific instruments, etc."

 

The Haryana state government identified common facility centres for five clusters which have been sanctioned by GoI and 'in principle' approval of GOI has been received for two clusters. The foundation stones for these were laid at Saha, Ambala and Rohtak by the Union MSME minister and the chief minister of the state.

 

Narang informed us that the HSIIDC has also developed sector-specific industrial parks, food parks at Rai and Saha, an apparel park at Barhi, footwear park at Bahadurgarh, IT parks at Manesar, Rai and Panchkula, an electronic hardware technology park at Kundli ansd agricultural implements park at Karnal.

 

He said, "The Government is also providing common facilities under the Centre-sponsored cluster development programme to tackle competition from cheap Chinese goods. The clusters offer common design centres, tool rooms, skill development centres, bulk buying of raw material and effluent treatment plants to cut costs and enhance quality."

 

CP Paul hoped to roll out a blue print soon. This, he felt, would create "an Industrial Model Township (IMT) in the lines of Faridabad and Ballabgarh and expand the print and packaging industrial base".

 

Paul felt the objective of print cluster would be, "quality check for manufacturing web offset, small sheetfet press, corrugation machines which cater to India as well as print markets in South East Asia, Middle East, North Africa, etc."

 

Narang said, "The cluster will be developed in the Manesar Bawal Investment Region which is an area of 400 sq km." In addition, the Haryana government is aggressively pursuing the Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub at Rewari over 1,000 acres; the Global City project over 1,000 acres; and a Mass Rapid Transport System between Gurgaon, Manesar and Bawal.'
