This programme will make knowledge accessible outside industry circles

Founded in 1964 by a group of professionals led by VK Poddar, the Indian Pulp & Paper Technical Association (IPPTA) has long served as a hub for industry knowledge-sharing and professional development within the pulp, paper, board, and allied sectors.

This upcoming programme – titled Papermaking for Non-Paper Makers – reflects IPPTA’s continued efforts to make technical knowledge accessible beyond traditional industry circles.

The crash course will kick off on 3 June with an inaugural ceremony followed by intensive technical sessions. Highlights from the first day include an introduction to various grades of paper and their uses, sessions on packaging paper manufacturing, and an overview of specialty papers. Speakers include Dr. RS Sapkal (Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University), Pankajj Agarwaal (Bindlas Duplux), and Siddharth Mohanty (ITC).

Afternoon sessions will explore raw materials, pulping techniques, and bleaching, featuring experts from Amazon Papyrus Chemical, CPPRI, and Agriliv Research Foundation.

Day two delves into topics like chemical recovery, waste paper processing, and paper machine operations. Delegates will hear from leaders such as R Jha (Thermax), Dr Ramjee Subramanium (DPT, Saharanpur), and RB Lakahmipathi Sakthi (TNPL).

The final day will focus on testing and quality control, paper properties, and sustainability. With speakers from CFTRI, J K Paper Mills, and HABER, sessions will address both technical and environmental considerations in modern papermaking.
