IRS 2019 Q1: Top regional language dailies
In the regional segment of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Q1 2019, released on 26 April, Daily Thanthi has emerged as the most read daily with 24054,000 Total Readership (TR) whereas Malayala Manorama takes the top spot in terms of AIR (9758,000).

If we focus only on the top five dailies list from the west region, the first spot on the TR list went to Lokmat with 19691,000 TR. That’s an improvement from IRS 2017 where the TR for the daily was 18066,000.
In terms of most read Marathi newspapers, Daily Sakaal took the second spot after Lokmat with 11841 TR. In IRS 2017, it had recorded 10498 TR, which means it has managed to increase its readership in last two years. Punya Nagri takes the third spot with 9670 TR, Pudhari takes the fourth spot with 8083 TR and Loksatta is at the fifth position with 4174.
Coming to most read Gujarati dailies, Gujarat Samachar retained its top spot with 11873 TR followed by Sandesh on the second spot with 10375 TR. The latter too stayed put on the second spot. Divya Bhaskar remains on third spot, as IRS 2017, with 8178 TR. Saurashtra Samachar and Kutch Mitra swapped places. In IRS 2019, Saurashtra Samachar managed to topple Kutch Mitra with 766 TR. Kutch Mitra clocked 757 TR as per IRS 2019. In the earlier report, the order was reversed.
Rajasthan Patrika takes the sixth position on the top 20 dailies list (all languages) with 18036, 000 TR. It climbed up one step from the seventh position in IRS 2017 when it had clocked 16326, 000 TR. Rajasthan Patrika's edition, Patrika, moved up the ladder to the 19th position with 9967 000 TR.
A similar trend has been noticed for Gujarat Samachar. The daily moved up one spot to 15th position on all languages TR list with11873, 000 in the latest report. Daily Sakaal went up two notches to 16th position with 11841 TR.
