ITC - PSPD inaugurates new facility in Talegaon

The facility has been established as a contract partnership with Unisource Papers, promoted by Inder Aurora of Tradecom International, which previously ran a converting unit for BILT.

"The new facility at Talegaon is equipped with a sheeter from Milltex and another sheet packing equipment. The Milltex is capable of running at a maximum web speed of 300 metres per minute and can handle stock thickness from 200 to 450 gsm. The maximum knife load, however, is 600 gsm. The sheeter is expected to output 2,500 tonnes per month," said Aurora.

"The idea behind setting up a facility in Chakan was to stay closer to our clients located in Mumbai, Goa, Aurangabad and other eastern parts," said SN Venkataraman, vice president for marketing at ITC PSPD.

ITC also has a QCS in Silvassa which houses two sheeters and was the only centre which catered to the western region excluding Gujarat.

Venkataraman added, "With the western part looking more lucrative for print packaging, it made sense for us to setup a QSC in Talegaon."

Nimish Vora, director of Srinivas Papers, who was present at the inauguration, said, "We have a monthly turnover of around 1,200 tonnes of paper. With this new facility being set up within close proximity, the earlier lead time of two three days will be drastically reduced, which will help us double our capacity to supply."

The inauguration was attended by 80 people which included suppliers and clients of ITC PSPD.
