Venneti: “44% of the energy requirement in ITC-PSPD is met from renewable sources”

“We are looking forward to the best talent being recognised and rewarded,” said Prabhakar Venneti, divisional head of sales and marketing and materials, ITC Paperboards & Specialty Papers Division (ITC-PSPD).

PrintWeek Awards Night will be held on 2 November 2022 at the Hotel Hyatt, Santacruz, Mumbai.

ITC – PSPD is also a partner at PrintWeek’s Show & Tell event, which will be hosted at 2pm on the same date and venue as PrintWeek Awards Night.

While speaking to PrintWeek, Venneti said, ITC  PSPD has been upping its game by preparing alternatives to single-use plastics, which he thinks will be significant for the Indian print and packaging segments. “The Filo series – a range of liquid and grease resistant boards, replaces single-use plastic disposables in the actively growing food and beverage industry. We also have compostable barrier paperboards under the Omega series. Apart from these, we have also recently launched a paper that can substitute plastic sticks in ear-buds and lollypops.”

For ITC-PSPD, sustainability is at the core of everything it does. Its afforestation programme has cumulatively greened more than 9.5-lakh acres of land till date, aiding large-scale carbon sequestration.

Venneti informed that 44% of the energy requirement in ITC PSPD is met from renewable sources. “We have recently commissioned a future-ready high-pressure recovery boiler (HPRB) at our Bhadrachalam mill to replace conventional soda recovery boilers. This will contribute significantly towards reducing carbon footprint through lower coal consumption.”
