Jak, Silverpoint hog the limelight at NAEP 2016
Repeating the previous year’s feat, this year too, two Mumbai firms, Jak Printers (16) and Silverpoint Press (13) bagged the largest number of awards at the NAEP 2016, the annual award ceremony organised by the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP). The 11th National Awards for Excellence in Printing (NAEP) was held in Delhi on 15 January 2017. The Delhi Printers’ Association hosted the event.
This year, the NAEP attracted total 1,084 entries in 49 categories, including Special and Jury Awards. Total 208 awards were given away during the ceremony.
The entries, received from all over the country, were sorted out, barcoded and then carefully scrutinised and judged in a fool-proof manner by established print experts Dr Rajendrakumar Anayath, Kiran Prayagi and Anjan Kumar Baral, over a period of three days. The judges had come to Delhi from Bhiwani, Mumbai and Hisar and took every care that the deserving printers were rewarded with gold and silver trophies.
Meanwhile, doyen of the Indian printing industry VN Chhabra was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the function.
Following Chhabra's acceptance speech, his wife Rami Chhabra said that the Chhabra family will announce a Special Award for future NAEPs in the name of VN Chhabra when he turns 90 in a few days time.
Besides handing over awards to the winners, the chief guest for the evening, HV Sheth, president, IPAMA, also presented mementos to the three judges, the main sponsor of the event TechNova and other sponsors, IPAMA, Huber Group, IDFC Bank, Corel, Sona Papers, HP and Max Rollers. Arvind Mardikar of Printers Guild, Nagpur, was felicitated with a special memento for extending his invaluable cooperation and support to the 11th NAEP.
To mark the occasion, a special Black Book, carrying names of all the awardees and photographs of the award-winning entries was published. The Black Book, a collector’s item, was released on stage by HV Sheth, Vinod Rajpal, chairman, NAEP; Kamal Chopra, president, AIFMP; Anand Limaye, general secretary, AIFMP; Sunil Jain, president, DPA; and Rajiv Gupta.
