The Ricoh C7200x Graphic Art Edition can print 52 to 360-gsm sheets at the speed of 85-ppm and is equipped with EFI Fiery colour controller E-46A server, which works on NX Pro platform.

Iqbal Singh, the second generation of the family business, said, “We had digital cut-sheet printing presses from other manufacturers. We sold them all and opted for the Ricoh. The Ricoh is a robust and heavy-duty machine, especially when it comes to higher gsm media (around and more than 400-gsm). Now, we can produce jobs on thicker and more flexible media without a problem. Another reason is a reproduction of colour (especially depth of black) and extended colour gamut (more than CMYK).”

Iqbal Singh is a mechanical engineer and used to work in Indian Railways as a sub-divisional officer.

Prabhjot Singh, the third generation, is a computer science engineer from Jalandhar. He joined the business around four years ago and now can operate every machine on the production floor. He said, “For capital equipment, after-sales service is important. Monotech Systems’ prompt and dedicated service engineer is stationed at Ludhiana, which is an hour away from Jalandhar. Our service calls have always been attended to in less than two hours since the installation. We have a decade-long relationship with Monotech Systems. Most of the machines on our production floor are from Monotech Systems, whether it’s the CTP, the flatbed printer, or other machines. Monotech Systems has provided us with the appropriate training to operate the press and run the Fiery.”

Established in 1980, Deepak Printers is run by a team of 15 people under the guidance of Iqbal Singh, Inderpal Singh and Prabhjot Singh in a 2,800-sqft production area. The digital printing company produces and offers printed sheets and complete products as well. Last year, the company had a turnover of more than Rs 1.25-crore. This year, it is expecting a 30% growth, especially after adding the Ricoh engine.

“We have produced more than 3.5 lakh colour A3: 3,00000 sheets of special colour and 50,000 sheets of mono sheets on the machine. We are focusing on increasing our mono production,” Singh said.

On plans, he said the company is focusing on label printing and packaging. There is a plan for another print production unit in nearby geography. We are doing labels on the Ricoh for the moment but are planning to expand it,” he said.

Along with a complete digital print production set-up, Deepak Printers produces jobs on offset with its four-colour Heidelberg SM72 printing press. Almost 99% of its customers are from the sports industry.

Tejinder Singh, business head – print and packaging solutions of Monotech Systems, said, “Monotech Systems has installed multiple Ricoh printing presses in a span of 18 months. Robustness of the machine, extended colour gamut and multiple variety media handling helped us to penetrate the machine into the market. Customers trust us and we provide all possible support by having local service engineers positioned in Punjab and all the important spare parts available every time to reduce the break-down period. Our similar history we are creating in digital printing and wide format graphics too. We are thankful to our customers for their trust and support.”
