Chhotubhai Shah, managing director of the company, which specialises in commercial print and book printing production said that: "Within 45 days of its installation, the new Heidelberg press already crossed the mark of seven million impressions mark and we are aiming for 10 million impressions by the end of this month.”

Jayant Prints N Packs operates the press at the speed of 15,000 sph consistently for every job.

Shah added: "Our operator’s, initially were not very comfortable running the machine at that speed. They were under the impression that it is a new machine and running the machine at this speed may cause damage. But today, it is reverse they don’t run the machine below 15,000 impressions per hour.”

Peter Rego, general manager at Heidelberg India, said: “You cannot expect a formula one race car to run at slow speed. Similarly, the Heidelberg CD 102 press is supposed to be run at its full capacity.”

The firm is one of the few in the industry that implements various incentive schemes for its employees.

Shashank Shah, son of Chhotubhai and director in the firm, said: “If the operator produces 90,000 impressions in one shift or produces four jobs in one shift then he is eligible for incentive. This boosts the operator’s performance.”
