The expansion will include a 10.5m orientation line, which is supposed to be installed by Q4, 2016. This will result in an increase in capacity by more than 50,000 tonnes per year.

The metalliser is expected to start up in Q2, 2016 and will add 10,000 tonnes of metallisation capacity.

Jindal Films Brindisi operations director Alessandro Fontanarosa said, "This investment reinforces our commitment to providing customers with a long-term supply strategy and strong technology.”

Earilier this year, in July, the company had announced its investment in trigeneration plant at the Bindrisi facility. This means that the plant will simultaneously produce heat, electrical power and cooling power from just one power source, thereby savings up to 30% of primary energy as well as reduced C02 emissions from the lower consumption of fossil fuels.

Marcello Bergamo, managing director, said, “The Brindisi site is already embracing energy optimisation and sustainability objectives by integrating them into our daily work activities.”

“The installation of the new trigeneration unit will provide the next step in further reducing saving on primary energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by having an operating yield above 70%, thanks to the conversion of the natural gas into electrical power, heat and cooling output”.

Scott Van Winter, CEO and executive vice president, Jindal Films, added, “This investment strategy underscores the confidence we have in our employees, our customers and our suppliers to aggressively grow the specialty films business. We are able to leverage exceptional technology and a solid asset base with a global presence, enabling us to provide solutions everywhere in the world.”
