Okhla Industrial Area, New Delhi-based JK Offset Graphics has invested in an RMGT 9 series sheetfed offset printing press. This is the company’s second four-colour RMGT printing press. Provin Technos, the Indian representative of RMGT, supplied and installed the machine.
Jinendra Kumar Jain, founder, JK Offset Graphics, said, “It took us around five years to add the next RMGT press. The first machine was installed in 2022. We had a good experience with the existing press and Provin has always been a good partner in our business and growth.
He said the new RMGT printing press is similar to the existing one with minor upgrades.
He added, “Along with multiple short-run jobs, we have produced two long-run jobs – more than 2.5 lakh books for Pratham Books and more than two lakh copies of a magazine, New India Samachar. We have been producing books, magazines, catalogues, brochures, leaflets, file folders, and other commercial jobs on the machine. Both the machines are compact, consume less power and the after-sales service from Provin Technos is good.”
Meanwhile, the company has diversified into packaging and producing rigid boxes and labels. For rigid boxes, it has an India-made semi-automatic setup. For labels, it has installed a label printing and converting machine from RK Label Machinery.
“We have established a new brand called Tofaa India, where we manufacture rigid boxes and labels for multiple brands, especially in sweets and snacks segments. We will expand our packaging portfolio soon,” Jain said. “We can manufacture rigid boxes from 2x3-inch to 20x18-inch with a variety of innovations. We can produce around 25,000 rigid boxes a week but it depends on size and innovation. We are getting a good response from the market. We have been producing labels for our old ally, Safexpress, in bulk.”
JK Offset sees a bright future in the packaging and printing industry. This reflects in its recent greenfield expansion. It now has three premises — two are owned and the third is rented.
“We are happy to see the kind of demands we are getting from the market, especially in terms of innovation. We are learning every day when it comes to packaging,” Jain said.
He is helped in the business by his son Saksham Jain, who takes care of the packaging business.
Saksham Jain said packaging is a competitive but interesting market. New brands are coming into the market and they need short-run packaging. That’s why digital printing is gaining momentum.
