Deepak Arora, chief executive officer, JMD Colour Scan said, “Since we returned from Drupa, we have been comparing various digital printing machines that would fit our needs. Finally, we decided to go with Xerox 770.” The digital wing has been named JMD Digital, and will work under the aegis of JMD Colour.

Xerox 770 can print up to 70 A4 pages per minute at a resolution of 2400x2400dpi. Xerox recommends an average monthly volume of 20,000 to 75,000 A4 pages per month. The machine can scan at the speeds of 50 ppm in colour and 80 ppm in black and white.

JMD plans to utilise the new division for churning out finished products like wedding cards and albums among other commercial printing works.

“We plan to do around 2 lakh A4 colour print every month,” said Arora.

“The photo-printing segment holds tremendous growth opportunity; especially, in a market like India, where people still prefer to capture their experiences and memories in print. JMD Colour has been a known name in the print business, and when they came to Xerox, they specifically said that they wanted to integrate quality with value addition and specialisation,” said Pankaj Kalra, associate director and head of graphic communications, Xerox India.

Arora also plans to upgrade the digital units with new digital production presses in next couple of months. “The demand for short-run jobs is growing at a high pace. We are confident that if we have more presses, we would be able to cater to the market better. Right set of people and technology creates a niche for your brand in a market,” he added.
