According to GBO sources, Jumpstart recognises school as a starting point for many creative journeys. Learning, however, has moved beyond the four walls of the classroom—it’s more fluid and transcendent, it’s embracing movement and innovation. In this context, Jumpstart offers a great platform for development as it bring together experts from the field of tech-based learning, storyfied learning, gamified learning on stage to interact with teachers and build on effective learning outcomes.
One of the highlights of Jumpstart 2017 will be a creative writing Masterclass for young writers (13 years and above) — Masterclass for the Millennials — Authoring Multimedia Content, with V Anand, head of content, Centum Learning. The masterclass will look into developing interactive and engaging multimedia content using different tools.
On the first day of the event, bestselling author and mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik will deliver the keynote address offering an original take on the culture of stories—how they shape our worldview and connect with different domains.
Among other masterclasses, Moritz Stetter, illustrator and cartoonist from Germany, will conduct an illustrator’s masterclasses on doodle and storyboarding while Venita Coelho, author and screenwriter, will conduct the writer’s masterclass.
Another interesting session will be a panel discussion on ‘Game-based learning’ with Amruth, CEO, GuruGLearning Labs; Jairaj Bhattacharya, co-founder and CEO, ConveGenius and Vishnu Karthik, associate director, The Heritage School. The discussion will focus on how teachers have adopted game-based learning practices as well as gamification practices to improve student learning in their classroom; their effectiveness; and how creators need to rewire their content to eliminate cognitive biases for making an impact in gamified systems.
