Sivakasi-based Kaliswari group have added India’s first ever Heidelberg Speedmaster CS 92 to their in-house printing division.
Established in 1923 as a match factory, the company made huge strides after expanding into the fireworks industry and established the reputed “Cock” brand. Today, the company controls over 30 factories and has an employee count exceeding 9,000 across diverse verticals, such as educational institutions, transportation and hotels. The in-house printing unit caters to the printing and packaging needs for all the group companies.
“We are more than happy to invest in the first Speedmaster CS 92 press in India. The format and production speeds of the CS92 score an A+, but the wow factor is the assured savings in plate and paper costs,” AP Selvarajan, director of Kaliswari Group.
Launched in April 2015 at the Print China exhibition, CS 92 is the first-of-its-kind press for Heidelberg in the 92 cm format.
According to Heidelberg, the press has a production speed of 15,000 sheets per hour and is claimed to handle substrates with thickness ranging from 0.03 mm – 0.6 mm. The unique format is expected to cater to about 90% of commercial print products and is said to offer almost 20% savings in plate costs.
“I was thoroughly impressed by the technical advantages that the Speedmaster CS92 had to offer, after watching a demo at Print China and signed up for the press the very next month,” said Selvarajan.
“The Speedmaster CS 92 is based on the extremely successful press format – the Speedmaster CD 102. This ensures stable print quality throughout the entire run, exceptionally easy operation, and outstanding productivity. Developed by Heidelberg engineers in Germany and equipped with high performance components such as the fully automated Preset Plus Feeder and Preset Plus delivery with pile heights of 1.3 meter (51.18 in), contact-free AirTransfer System, stable inking and Alcolor dampening with Variosystem, IntelliStart for easy make-ready making it a reliable and secure investment. In addition, the press can be converted for UV operation as well,” said Ganesh Kumar, senior sales manager of Heidelberg India for the Sivakasi region.
“The installation is currently in the works and the press is expected to be operational by this month-end,” concluded Kumar.
