Kamal Chopra of AIFMP announces new schemes

The 235th Governing Council (GC) meeting of the All India Federation of the Master Printers (AIFMP) was hosted by Telangana Offset Printers Association at Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad on 18 March. More than 200 GC members attended this meeting.

On the sidelines of the meet, Kamal Chopra, president of the AIFMP, highlighted some of AIFMP's initiatives in recent times. He said, "Very recently, AIFMP signed an MoU with Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC), China for providing training in ‘3-D Printing’ and ‘Printed Electronics’ to the print professionals, students and teachers of printing in India. The training of these future technologies are not available at present in India."

AIFMP has arranged a subsidised three month specialist training in China for these subjects in collaboration with BIGC for the overall development and growth of the Indian printing industry.

Chopra added, "For the promotion of print education in India and to persuade the younger generation to adopt printing as a career this year AIFMP launched scholarships for girl students who are interested to adopt printing as a career. At the same time stipends are also been introduced for economical weaker but brilliant students. AIFMP also launched the gold medal for best student in Diploma, B Tech and M Tech.

AIFMP has also planned a group visit of 200 print professionals to visit Shanghai from 10 to 13 April, to understand the system of working of their counterparts in China. This group visit is supported by the Government of India, Ministry of MSME under international cooperation scheme.

During this visit, AIFMP is going to celebrate India Day on 12 April at Shanghai. Prakash Gupta, the consulate general of India at Shanghai will be the chief guest. According to Chopra, The celebration of India Day at China will leave an impression and we will be able to showcase the capability and strength of Indian printing industry. At the same time it will be the appropriate platform to invite international manufacturers for make in India."

The 12th edition of National Awards of Excellence in Printing will be hosted by Printers Guild, Nagpur during the Pamex show, scheduled from 18 to 21 December 2017 in Mumbai.

The organisers have decided to further strengthen the NAEP awards and give an international presence. In the next edition of NAEP, entries from other countries will also be welcomed.

In an effort to reach 80 percent of the printers living in tier two and three cities, AIFMP has launched its own App.
