Kanchize installation at Kala Ghoda pays tribute to small businesses
Mumbai-based Kanchize Design Studio has installed a home-shaped entry gate with hundreds of cosy Kanchize cushion covers at Kala Ghoda Art Festival (KGAF) 2023. The design reflects Kanchize Design Studio’s philosophy, as it believes limitations are infinite and possibilities in disguise.

Kanchize Design Studio is a packaging design expert focused on the personal care segment.
The company has executed projects for FMCG brands like Tata Salt, Tata Gofit, Dove Elixir, Dove Anti-Dandruff Solutions, Henko Matic, Clinic Plus, Scott, Lotus Youth RX, Margo, Liril, Henko, Ponds, Clinic Plus Vita Oil, Amrut Veni, Rexona, Roof Afza Fusion, Garnier Men Oil Clear, Vim, LUX, and Vaseline.
Talking about KGAF installation, Kanchan Dhankani, founder and principal designer at Kanchize Design Studio, said, “The cushions represent dreams which come alive at home comfort. The art on each cushion is prepared with a form using only three elements.”
She added, “We made many designs, from portraits to animals, insects, patterns, dragons, and unicorns. The innovative idea was conceived during the lockdown to create self-initiative projects such as designing masks, bags, neck gaiters, cushion covers, yoga decks, mugs, aprons, ludo coasters, and more. The idea is to generate orders for local vendors like printers, binders, tailors, and designers. We created an online shopping platform at Amazon and started shipping orders during the crisis.”
Dhankani said that Kanchize Gate installation is a tribute to all business startups during lockdown.
The KGAF has returned after a gap of two years as the festival brings in artists from across India.
“This year, we stepped out of our homes after the pandemic and decided to make an art installation, a tribute to small businesses which began at home. We are happy to have an installation space at KGAF 2023,” Dhankani said.
Kala Ghoda Art Festival 2023 is scheduled from 4 to 12 February in Mumbai.
