Fire at Kanpur-based press kills one

After a massive fire at the production facility of Nova Publication and Printers in Faridabad, Haryana, on 10 April, another incidence of fire has been reported this time at a press in Falganj industrial area, Kanpur on April 24., Business

While most of the employees escaped, a 32-year old employee of the press was gutted in the fire. The victim has been identified as Bablu Gautam.
 
According to the preliminary investigations, the fire started due to a short circuit and the blaze soon engulfed the factory. The chemicals and inks lying around the press are said to have spread the blaze out of control.
 
Further, it is said that safety measures like the fire extinguisher, protective equipment were not in place.
 
The above accident, once again, is an important wake up call to all print firms. Such fires can be prevented with risk hazard assessment, plus regular safety drills.
