Kl Hi-tech delivers Adhaar cards on schedule

Kl Hi-tech, a Hyderabad-based security printer, has delivered Adhaar cards to Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). UIDAI is an initiative by the Government of India to collect, collate and in due course issue an identification document to every citizen of India.

Srinivas Rao, chairman, Kl Hi-tech, said, “Kodak and Kl hi-tech worked closely on the Adhaar card project. This strategic partnership helped to bag the contract to initially print 36 million cards in 110 days which was a tremendous achievement.” He further added that, ”good quality color printing, cost effectiveness and productivity were the main criteria for us to select digital machine options for Adhaar project”.

 In January 2012, Kl Hi-tech invested in Kodak Nexpress SE 3600 and  Kodak 2100 Classic which according to Kodak is suited for this application. They have three Nexpresses installed till date.

Hi-tech which was established in 1989 is engaged in security printing, using state of art printing technology including Kodak. Its areas of operations cover printing of business forms, variable data printing, plastic cards, scratch cards, security printing of cheques, ballots, lottery tickets and excise stamps.

Reputed banks in the Private and Public sector in India as well as abroad, educational institutions, election commissions etc are some of their major customers.

As Hyderabad is the pharma hub, the company is now planning to venture into packaging to cater to the needs of pharmaceutical companies for their package printing requirement. Apart from this, Kl Hi-tech is also planning to get into smart card production in a larger way.
