The integration of systems would enable the printers to manage jobs for multiple offset and digital devices using a single user interface.
The bi-directional data flow between Kodak Prinergy workflow and Fiery Servers is enabled by Job Definition Format (JDF) or Job Messaging Format (JMF). This allows users to direct the output to the most suitable offset or digital systems, schedule jobs, and maximise press usage, while also providing critical tracking and reporting information.
Kodak statement said, "Kodak Prinergy workflow customers have requested this important capability and it is now delivered, supporting their key requirements of an integrated work flow that drives out cost, touch points and potentials for errors."
This solution was first unveiled at the last year’s EFI Connect annual users’ conference. This connectivity is available for EFI Fiery, Fiery Central, and Fiery wide-format presses.
John Henze, of EFI, said, “The solution is ideal for blended production environment, routing jobs to the most appropriate and cost-effective device while providing centralised control from a single operator station."
