Anupama has invested in the Flexcel NX Mid model. The Flexcel NX is a flat-top dot technology platesetter unit can form plates with a resolution of 2400 dpi at a speed of six minutes per imaging layer.
Another company, Repro Plate Services in Chennai, has also invested in the Flexcel Mid model. Whereas, Mumbai-based Numex Blocks has invested in the Flexcel NX wide model, with a size of 42x60inches.
The Flexcel, according to a Kodak India official, benefits Indian firms whose focus is mainly on packaging with foils, cartons, aluminum, etc, plus those firms who are adding more printing on its paper for the secondary packaging market, including corrugated.
The official informed, “The Kodak Flexcel NX digital flexographic system uses the thermal imaging layer in conjunction with flexo plates. This layer is exposed on a Trendsetter NX imager with Kodak Squarespot imaging technology. After imaging, it is laminated to a Kodak Flexcel NX digital flexographic plate using the Kodak Flexcel NX laminator. The quick and simple lamination process removes all oxygen between the layer and the plate, and results in the creation of high-quality, full amplitude, flat-top dots.”
Bwin Digiflex, the Baddi-based pre-press bureau has also invested in the Flexcel NX, a digital flexographic system. It is the first Flexcel NX to be installed in North India. Shailesh Garg of Bwin Digiflex said, “Upsurging market demand and the need for new technology were the key reasons for the Flexcel installation.”
The new feature, Digicap NX improves ink transfer deliver enhanced print quality, as well as production efficiencies, allowing flexo platemakers to more easily mix areas of solids and halftones on the same plate. Also, the new feature helps to reduce set-up time on press with plates that come to color more quickly.
Additionally, the Flexcel NX system was also installed at Bengaluru-based Rajhans Enterprises and Sivakasi-based Orsons Typograph, to boost their pre-press capacity.
