The agreement enables Manroland to integrate the Kodak Prosper S20 and S30 imprinting systems into webpress lines.
“We appreciate the technology and engineering experience that manroland web systems brings to this partnership,” said Eric Owen, vice president of WW sales and business development for Kodak’s digital printing and enterprise business. “They understand how to mount print heads, control speed and micro-movements and make appropriate adjustments, resulting in a head that is positioned at the right location for printing. This creates a true advantage for customers.”
With the integration of imprinting systems, the newspaper players will be able to offer personalised advertising, micro-zoning, logistics, codes and gaming customisation among other services.
The S30 head has a print width of 10.6cm and a printing speed of up to 900 metres per minute.
Dieter Betzmeier, executive vice president, technology and project execution, Manroland Web Systems, said, “The addition of the S-Series print head technology from Kodak enables us to create new opportunities for our newspaper applications as well as the other markets that we participate in.
As far as Indian markets are concerned, Kodak’s Prosper digital web press is installed at Repro India’s Navi Mumbai unit for short-run book printing.
