Speaking to PrintWeek India Arnab Maiti, national business manager – pre-press solutions and unified workflow solutions,  Kodak India, said, “We have conducted successful demonstration of Sonora XP plates at various customer sites including sheetfed and web offset applications in India and have received very positive and enthusiastic feedback from the users.”

Maiti added, “After the first demonstration we are now in a second phase where we shall go ahead with customers who would use this on continued basis.”

Sonora plates boasts of its process-free nature, which eliminates the chemistry, electricity, water and equipment used in plate processing, while delivering the quality, productivity and print capabilities of mainstream processed plates.

According to Maiti, the new VLF plate size and 0.40 mm gauge are the latest in a string of developments such as faster imaging speeds, longer run lengths, darker plate contrast, and broader print capability.

Based on the company’s sales projections worldwide, it estimates that in the next year, use of Sonora plates could be directly responsible for saving up to 265 million litres of water.
