Speaking about the trends, Komori said, “Offset printing will remain mainstream in the near future and packaging is poised to be the most promising segment.”
Komori supported his statement with statistics from NPES and PIRA survey. He said, “From 2012 to 2017, worldwide packaging market will grow at the rate of 8.1%. In packaging digital printing contributes only 2%.”
Komori highlighted that digitisation has its own strengths in terms of short run and variable data printing, however, the challenge is per unit cost. “Thus, I believe offset printing will remain mainstream in recent future. We have joined hands with two development partners to combine the advantages of digital within offset presses.”
Komori announced that it will launch Impermia IS29, its single pass UV inkjet press, at IGAS 2015. Also, its partnership with Landa is expected to fructify at Drupa 2016, said Komori.
“The idea is to establish a combined production system and a marketing method, which can digitally satisfy quality requirement of professional offset printers,” said Komori.
