Labelexpo 2018: HP presents new digital print solutions

At Labelexpo India 2018, HP showcased new solutions for labels and packaging business with the latest tools and innovations for top quality printing of labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging on its wide-ranging portfolio.

These include solutions for workflow, printing and converting along with a range of applications from worldwide converters that are transforming and growing business with HP Indigo’s Liquid Electrophotography (LEP)-based digital printing.

HP SmartStream Collage, an automated unique variable design for HP Indigo printing, has been unveiled at the event. It offers unique designs by manipulating elements randomly for unlimited brand impact using logos and symbols.

“The HP LEP technology differentiates HP Indigo as the most advanced and trusted technology solution for the label and packaging segment. We continue to reinvent digital printing with innovation that enables customers and brands to remain profitable and explore fresh revenue streams,” said A Appadurai, country manager, Indigo and Pagewide Web Press, Graphics Solutions Business, HP.

With the ability to print anything at any length by leveraging the LEP technology, customers can automate and optimise their production floors with powerful press and workflows. “This can help them to produce more at lower costs and measurable results,” he added.

HP also showcased a series of interesting projects like ‘Share a Coke’ personalised bottles and Polycrol Mosai bottles during the show. These are Made in India projects by HP customers Huhtamaki and Trigon respectively.

At the show, HP demonstrated the HP Indigo 6900 Digital Press with new applications and effects while running in line with the groundbreaking one-pass digital embellishments unit. This end-to-end solution allows printing of any label in a simple, more productive and profitable way.

The commercially available HP Indigo Pack Ready for Labels solution can produce high-resistance labels for food, household, and chemical applications. A range of breakthrough HP Indigo ElectroInks for labels and packaging along with the HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver are additional highlights at the HP booth. The ink supports a wide range of metallic colors which can enable new, high-value digital applications with cost-effective production.

HP set up a unique Security and Brand Protection zone at the event to provide on-ground experience of the most advanced and leading-edge security and brand protection solutions including new and exclusive covert serialization with HP Indigo ElectroInks Invisible, unique layered brand protection with micro-text, anti-copy/anti-counterfeiting marks, track and trace and much more. The zone also demonstrated the capabilities of HP Link technology which enables brand owners to track each individual product unit through its entire lifecycle by creating and using a unique combination of marking technologies that create an adaptable and secure digital fingerprint.

HP is also providing hands-on demonstrations of the new high-performance, modular and scalable print server at the event. Further, it is showcasing the production automation capabilities of the cloud-based HP PrintOS Site Flow for Labels and Packaging, OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) monitoring, EPM Analyzer and the new HP PrintOS Marketplace.
