The four buyers include Morya Labels, Star Offset, Angel Priint Tech, and Winways Digitech Multiservices. 

“We have successfully closed four deals so far, with more in the pipeline. All these customers operate digital label printing facilities. These deals are a significant milestone for us as they validate our core claim: a digital label finisher is essential for maximising the benefits of digital label printing,” Akshat Pardiwala, chief operating officer of Nippon Color, said.

He added, “The VD330, an advanced digital label finisher eliminates the need for dies in label cutting. Simply upload the outline file, and the machine begins cutting using its multiple blades.”

The technology encompasses a range of functions. It excels in unwinding, laminating, half-cutting (utilising multiple cutting heads, up to four), matrix removal, slitting, and rewinding/sheeting.

The VD330 digital label die-cutter boasts three standout features. The first is an automatic job changeover using artificial intelligence (AI). The CCD camera scans the mark and reads the job number, enabling seamless job transitions without operator intervention.

The second feature of note is multiple cutting heads for increased speed and productivity. In contrast to other plotters with a single cutting head, the VD330 provides up to four cutting heads. The distance between the heads is calculated automatically and adjusted for each job, ensuring optimal performance without manual intervention.

Finally, the die-cutter’s versatile roll-to-roll and roll-to-sheet configuration provides label converters with flexibility. This allows them to adapt their processes based on specific job requirements.

On the VD330, Pardiwala said, “This innovation helps label converters save significant time and costs by removing the dependency on traditional dies. Additionally, the VD330 can laminate labels and slit them into smaller rolls, providing a comprehensive finishing solution.”

These features optimise operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and offer a solution that meets a variety of production needs.

When asked what trends he is observing in the industry, Pardiwala said that the industry is a significant shift as many converters transition to digital solutions to meet the growing demands of startups and short-run jobs.

When asked what Nippon’s plans were for the next year, Pardiwala said, “We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new digital label finisher model featuring 8 cutting heads and speeds of up to 18 metres per minute, offering enhanced efficiency and performance. Additionally, we are on the verge of finalising two deals for our Cron flexo CTP and are actively promoting this product in the market to expand its reach.”
