Labelexpo Europe 2017: Zecher to highlight SteppedHex anilox technology

Germany-based Zecher will exhibit the SteppedHex anilox technology, which was launched last year.

The SteppedHex engraving is based on an application of the parameters of 60-degree engraving with a combination of three consecutively arranged conventional cells to constitute an alternative engraving format.

It is proposed as an alternative to the conventional hexagonal engraving method.

The staggered engraving structure creates optimum conditions in the printing nip. The unique cellular format and radial layout of SteppedHex engraving help the cells to transfer more efficiently, thereby making the anilox roller easier to clean, especially with an automatic in-line washing system.

Anais Rath, marketing head, Zecher, said, “SteppedHex engraving assists the printer's task with improved emptying of the anilox roller cells to deliver optimised printing results. The cell geometry, which incorporates a special offset pattern, is subject to the corresponding German registered-design and patent protection. This optimised emptying performance achieves higher resolution and homogeneous ink-transfer, as well as makes the anilox rollers easier to clean.”

The SteppedHex engraving is suitable for all inking systems, while offering advantages that are likely to create cost-savings with respect to conventional engraving techniques, added Rath.

Besides this, the company will highlight laser cleaning, a new addition to its service portfolio. “While cleaning anilox rollers, conventional procedures remove only part of the accumulated residues. The LaserEcoClean system eliminates all ink and varnish residues. After the cleaning process, the pick-up volume of the anilox roller can once again be used to its full extent, and printers benefit from the same uniform inking performance as before.”

Zecher’s anilox rollers will be deployed on Nilpeter machines at LabelExpo.
