“We are excited,” said Amar Chhajed, president – labelling business at Huhtamaki PPL when he spoke to PrintWeek India at the Gallus stand. “It’s our first 440mm width press which we will have in our entire set-up. It’s the most sophisticated Gallus we have because all the other 10 Gallus presses we have are the EM 280s. So this is a big leap.”
Chhajed was certain as to how he will put the new press to use. “ I think the Labelmaster Classic will be the first try at having a common machine for both the PS and non-PS unsupported film. The new generation registration control and other features on the machine will play a big role, especially when running the non-PS unsupported film. I am expecting a lot from the machine.”
The Labelmaster 440 can print at a speed of 200 m/min and meets all popular needs on the market – from paper, PE to PP and foil mono material. “That’s the rated speed, but even if it is able to achieve close to 200 m/min, we will be happy,” said Chhajed.
According to Samir Patkar, president at Heidelberg/Gallus in India, the USP of the machine is the fast setup and makeready, lower wastage with perfect register right from the first print. “The direct servo drives, gearless printing cylinders and new Anilox rolls use delivers best print quality along with stable print register at higher machine speed.”
Patkar was also upbeat about the Labelexpo Europe show, which according to him has kept him super busy since the show was thrown open to visitors. “Despite the economic condition back home, Indian label printers have made it a point to visit and take a look at the various technologies. I think the Indian label printers are willing to fight it out, by bringing in new technologies, which are best for them. We at Gallus, build presses which are targeted for label printing.”
